// Design a set of Monotype type specimens celebrating two of their fonts, a classic and contemporary

Wanting to combine both of the specimens in some way selecting two typefaces that could be linked through their frequently found formats. Bodoni, a classic face frequently found in high fashion and a redrawn, contemporary face Metro Nova, originally designed for use in news print.

Contrasting the two mediums, Bodoni utilised and combined elegant fashion photography with the grace of Bodoni letterforms. Produced using smooth, premium stocks and printed on varied weights of Mohawk Supper Fine. Heavily influenced by scale, Metro Nova used an enlarged newspaper format of a double broadsheet. Twice the size of the papers it would of graced in the 1930’s. Using halftone imagery and printing onto 60gsm newsprint, the paper folder down to become the wrap of the two specimens.
